Turtle on the land

After over 5 years of not seeing one, I found a turtle out in the woods. This is an Eastern Box Turtle.

I had just talked to a local biology instructor about not seeing any turtles in some time. He told me that he still saw them from time to time so I was just not looking in the right place. I am not sure that I totally believe that I have not been looking in the right place because I just remember seeing lots of them in the road and on hiking trails in the past. Now it seems like I just dont see them as much as I did in the past. Wondering if the weather had caused them to move to cooler places.

well I am just happy to have found one on the land. growing up turtles were my favorite animal.
